On this page, I've included the 2016 RESA Home Staging
National (U.S.) Statistics Report.
Because the small type may be difficult to read, I am copying it here for you...
<< VACANT AND OCCUPIED HOMES PREVIOUSLY
ON THE MARKET UN-STAGED AND NOT SOLD >>
In a recent RESA study of 1,081 homes, un-staged homes spent an average of 184 DOM (Days on Market) before staging. After staging, these homes sold on average in 41 days. Homes that were staged prior to going on the market sold on average in 23 days.
Staged First = 90% Less Time on the Market
<< HOME STAGING SAVINGS CALCULATOR >>
If your Mortgage is $2,400.00
If your Direct Expenses are $1,000.00
Total Carrying Cost per Month is $3,400.00
RESA's national study of 1,081 vacant and occupied homes shows home owners had their property on the market for an average of 225 DOM which equals to 7 1/2 months. Round up to 8 months of expenses.
$3,400.00 x 8 months = $27,200.00 (in expenses)
Had those home owners staged first, their time on the market would have been cut by 202 days on average.
225 DOM minus 23 DOM = 202 DOM.
202 days divided by 30 = 7 months.
TOTAL CARRYING COSTS:
8 months (225 DOM) = $27,200.00 vs.
1 month (23 DOM) = $3,400.00
TOTAL SAVED BY STAGING FIRST = $23,800.00
...as you can see, there is an undeniable benefit to staging your home before listing it.
